Perspective Is Powerful

In December of 2018, after just deciding on a divorce, my then husband and I made the decision that we would take our little ones on a trip to Disney, TOGETHER, in February 2019.

We had talked about doing a family trip to Disney previously, but decided that we wanted to go when both of our kids could walk the park, pee and poop on their own, and remember the trip...
(I know, crazy right? 😜)

I brought the idea up again that December despite everything happening with he and I because, well, all the boxes were checked. The kids could both walk the park. They could pee and poop on their own. And they would remember it. ✅

I know, I know...you’re thinking “Why the hell would you bring up a Disney family vacation AFTER you decided you were divorcing?” 🤯

Here’s why...
✨I wanted to be there to experience my little ones experiencing Disney for the first time.
✨I wanted their Dad to have that experience too.
✨If we got divorced and then I found out their Dad was taking them to Disney for the first time with his family or on his own, I knew I would lose my shit...and vice versa
✨I wanted my little ones to experience Disney as a “family”, however that looked.
✨I believed the two of us could put aside what was happening and do this together, for our kids.

And so in February of 2019, in the midst of our divorce, we did the damn thing🙌🏻

It became a joke amongst our friends because we were going to the “happiest place on Earth” when in our day to day reality, we were both working through some REALLY HARD THINGS.

People said we were insane for doing it. They wondered if one of us wouldn’t make it out alive. They thought it was the dumbest idea they’d ever heard.

But that’s the thing about PERSPECTIVE.
It’s all about your own view...Where you’re looking from...Where you’re coming from.

As Dr. Wayne Dyer says, “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”

We looked at it from a place of love for our little ones and a place of respect for one another.

I looked at it like, hey, here we are in this uncomfortable situation and we have an opportunity to do this, together, and make it work for ourselves and more importantly, for our kiddos.

I had faith and BELIEVED we could do it.

To many, the timing was so far off...
but for us, the timing was perfect.💫

We spent four days all together in Orlando playing in the sunshine, laughing, riding all the rides, seeing all the sights, mini golfing, eating and drinking too much, and having a great fucking time in the “happiest place on Earth”.

It was as if a tiny miracle occurred.💕

It was one of the best trips of my life for so many reasons...seeing my little ones EXPLODE WITH JOY, seeing them playing and laughing with their Dad, getting to play and laugh with them myself, beginning to experience and redefine our new “family” dynamic, and feeling SO PROUD of their Dad and I for making it happen.

I will always be so grateful for our perspective on that situation.

I share this as a reminder that
💥PERSPECTIVE IS POWERFUL💥

Especially now.

Keep yours in check.
You may be surprised to find that sometimes, when your view is just right, tiny miracles can happen.❤️
