You Have Everything You Need
I started up the trail, snow flurries falling, light winds whisping, boots sloshing through the wet, muddy earth beneath me. I knew almost immediately I was overdressed for the weather, but I was already ascending and wasn’t turning back...so I adjusted.
✨Within the first fifteen minutes of my hike my snow hat and fleece were off, my hair was up in a pony tail, and I had swapped out my thick winter gloves for a lighter version✨
As I ascended higher, the Earth that was once wet and muddy had turned to a few inches of snow and a lot of ice covered, rocky terrain...so I adjusted.
✨I unpacked my spikes, strapped them on over my boots, and upward I went, digging in with each step✨
As I climbed higher and finally peeked out above the tree line, not much cover remained. The winds began to howl, the temperatures dropped, and the snow continued to fall. For as far as I could see ahead, there was beautiful rock face covered in thick ice...so I adjusted.
✨I swapped my lighter gloves for the thick winter version I had started with. I pulled my pony tail out and put my winter hat back on. I unpacked my fleece and added the layer back and continued on with the summit in site✨
As I trekked up and up digging my spikes in, I found myself adjusting with nearly every forward step.
The final ascent was absolutely stunning...the summit completely breathtaking ❤️
